Breast Cancer Exercising: PreHab, Post-Op, and Post Discharge with Rochelle Brannan

Published: 23 October, 2023

This presentation is divided into three breast cancer transitional phases of care. The first phase, commonly called “PreHab,” includes exercises combined with postural considerations after surgery. The second phase, “Post-op,” focuses on exercises with and without drains. The final transition is “Post-discharge” exercise recommendations.

Video will be used throughout the presentation for attendees to observe these important phases. The use of intermittent pneumatic compression will also be covered as an important tool to help breast cancer patients.

About our Speaker

Rochelle Brannan, MPT, CLT-LANA, is a seasoned physical therapist who has focused on oncology-lymphedema patient care for the last 15 years. In 2019, Rochelle established an integrative oncology-lymphedema private practice clinic. Rochelle believes “knowledge is power” as evidenced by recognition as a certified lymphedema therapist, a board-certified specialist in oncologic physical therapy, and a post-graduate certificate in oncology rehab. One of Rochelle’s professional highlights was contributing as a co-author to the first oncology rehab textbook, Oncology Rehabilitation: A Comprehensive Guidebook for Clinicians, First Edition (2022).

When not at work, Rochelle can be found tending to the magical garden path leading to her clinic’s front door. Playing in clay making “garden slab art” or creating outdoor mosaics are Rochelle’s favorite hobbies. Living in Santa Cruz, CA, allows Rochelle and her family to enjoy year-round exercising like biking along the coast, swimming, and beach walking.
