Medical Solutions Supplier Raises Funds for Lymphatic Education

Published: 6 February, 2015

Glen Mills, PA – Medical Solutions Supplier, a leading provider of home therapy equipment and supplies to treat chronic or acute medical conditions, has chosen the Lymphatic Education & Research Network, or LE&RN, as the beneficiary of its first quarter charitable initiative for 2015.

“A great number of the patients we serve suffer from lymphedema.  Raising awareness about the condition and how it can be effectively managed is so important,” remarked Joseph Carberry, Executive Team Leader.  “Since 1998, LE&RN has championed education and research while bringing patients and medical professionals together to address the unmet needs surrounding lymphatic disorders.  Because March 6, 2015 is Lymphedema Awareness Day, it was fitting for us to choose to raise funds for  an organization such as LE&RN.”

The lymphatic system is vital to the health of every individual and unraveling the mysteries of the lymphatic system is critical to understanding many other disease processes. As an integral part of the immune system, the lymphatic system is the body’s surveillance against cancer, and it can provide pathways for cancer to metastasize. It plays a role in inflammatory and auto-immune disorders such as arthritis and systemic lupus, and is key to understanding the spread of AIDS and many infections. LE&RN fosters and supports research to discover the links between lymphatic function, diseases, and levels of wellness.

According to the World Health Organization, lymphedema affects 250 million people worldwide.  Some estimates indicate that one in every 25 people will suffer from some form of lymphedema during their lifetime.  “While there is no cure for lymphedema, Medical Solutions Supplier’s compression pump therapy can control swelling and prevent it from worsening as well as relieve symptoms,” added Steve Kantor, Founder and President.  “By mimicking the normal pumping action of the lymphatic system, lymphatic flow is promoted – and this easy-to-use therapy can take place right in the comfort of the patient’s home.”

Thousands of testimonies are received each year from patients and health care professionals who have see dramatic improvement by using these pneumatic compression devices.   “Our very business is designed to help improve quality of life for those suffering from these chronic conditions,” added Kantor.  “We wanted to take it one step further and publicly support a non-profit organization with a similar focus, and we look forward to presenting a check to LE&RN at the end of March 2015.”
